Shots fired in Leilani
#1
It makes me sick.
Someone drove down the road yelling. Got to a place of residence... Had a huge yelling match...Then fired 3 shots. A dog yelped. There was little bit (very little bit) of yelling afterward... Then silence.
Cops were called... They drove by the area it happened and kept driving.

I really don't like it here right now. Sad

We gave them a very small general area. Hell if I'm going to go over and get an exact address.

There are only 3 houses in the area we gave them. You can't do a casual drive by if you don't have a casual car.

Heard this on the scanner; apparently someone called to report this, and that the responsible left the area. Police are looking for that person. JMO.

Be vigilant. Dragon's right, provide as much detail as you can.

Off topic, (sorry) we had an experience (Attempted burglary) on Thanksgiving morning in broad daylight! Must give police as much as you can to work with.

They caught the ice head after a whole day crime spree, which ended with stealing a State vehicle, and taking it home! ID'd the jerk in a photo line up within a New York second. He faces eleven (11) charges. Idiots. JMO.

We were the ones who called, and we actually stopped the police on the road and talked to them. We told them everything we knew, but there is no way in HELL I'm going to drive by the house when there were shots fired there. I'm not that stupid. I have no way to protect myself.

Also... I'm so sorry for your experience on Thanksgiving. That's really crappy. I just hate not feeling safe.

Lupie, you did just fine. In fact you did more than most. The reason why so many would like you or anyone to do more under these circumstances?. Is because many of us are not feeling safe enough out here anymore. The crime is on the rise even in neighborhoods like Lielani. Now that there are higher salaries and quite a few more blue in the area. Maybe in time these feelings will change with a little more justice and response?. Thank you for your concern and being such a good neighbor. I hope the holiday spirit can be found, for you deserve a good Christmas. P.S Opihikao, I am also sorry for your discomfort on such a holiday. Hopefully only belongings and thankful no injuries

Sucks big time, Lupie. You did the right thing. I hate not feeling safe, too. It's all over the place, not just Puna.

Thanks, gypsy69, we had cameras that caught the jerk on video which will help prosecutors. Just unsettling as all hell. [Sad!]Funny thing was, he was a foot away from me and I was talking to him like an old school marm, scolding him for his deplorable actions (trying to steal a dirt bike), and he looked up at me when I demanded, "Look at me when I'm talking to you". OMG! I've turned into my mother! (Sorry, levity needed.[xx(])

Best wishes for a safe holiday for all of you. Be ever watchful.

No worries. Just very unsettling. It was SO close. I was literally shaking in fear.
I grew up around Chicago, but came here from a small quiet town. I love this island, but it's like living in a small town with big city problems.
Opihikao... Good for you for turning into your mother. Wink
Hooray for cameras!

LOL, Opihikao great job on the skoldings. Sometimes they need to be looked at in the eyes, so they can see their actions. I once caught 4 teenagers firing paint guns over several lots onto my house and truck. With my wife pregnant and barefoot, and myself armed with a sand wedge we had to catch these guys. I made them all get out of their get away car, look me in the I and say sorry. ALSO had them come over and wash my house and truck down. Never had another problem with them in fact I see all of them working now with good attitudes. Shows that if a few more of these thugs were held accountable, or brought to justice, could be the things that turns their life around for the better.
