What a night! One lightning strike was very close last night. There was about no delay between the flash and the thunder. We are on 23rd just off Kaloli on the Shower side. A good day to stay home. I was going to go get an oil change in my Toyota, but think that can wait. Power has been off and on, but only out for a few minutes.

5.65 inches of rain since yesterday afternoon here n Keaau, the winds whipped the water everywhere, 1st time my newspaper was totally soaked...finally the skies are starting to brighten up & the wind is down!

But there is a dusting of snow on the mountain (sure think it should be covered with deep snow ofter all of this, but a nice dusting is still nice n the winter!)

Went out in the lull, at 4:15 we had 7.45 inches more in our rain gauge, so far no where near record rains, but the first time in almost 2 years I have needed the gauge that measures up to 8 inches of rainfall before being dumped (we replaced our old UVed gauge, & I looked high & low for one that could keep up with what the Hilo side can offer...)
