Hilo Adult Care Center Gets $385K
#1
Please support our kupuna. This organization has day programs for our kupuna in a safe, comfortable, and active environment.

Caretakers need to take advantage of these kinds of facilities, and our State needs to do more for our elderly. Federal law demands it finally, and basic morals and values dictate the same.

Take care of those who took care of you. Mahalo na kupuna. JMO.

HILO, Hawaii – The new Hilo Adult Day Center on Mohouli Street is getting $385,000 in capital improvement grant funds, released by Governor Neil Abercrombie. The new center will replace the old facility on Rainbow Drive, and is a collaborative project of two 501©(3) non-profit organizations with long histories of serving the Big Island community. The facility will be operated by Hawaii Island Adult Care, Inc. and developed by the Hawaii Island Community Development Corporation (HICDC).

“This is investment in people. The new Hilo Adult Day Center will continue to provide support for adults, primarily kupuna, with physical or mental challenges, offering social, recreational and educational activities,” Gov. Abercrombie said in a media release. “It allows our older adults the opportunity to continue living at home for as long as possible, have dignity and independence and be part of their communities.”
