As most people should know, online social media has moved on from forums and blogs to Facebook and Twitter. Just when you thought the anti-GMO "activists" couldn't get any more bizarre, now they are on Facebook and Twitter advocating burning down papaya fields, not only murdering Monsanto executives but their children also, and killing farmers that are not against GMO. Supposedly, this is because they are concerned about their health and safety. These are screenshots of these anti-GMO "activists" postings from Facebook and Twitter as well as Russell Ruderman defending them. These "activists" are actually domestic terrorists. These people are causing much more damage to Hawaii than any hypothetical GMO crop.

Where exactly did Sen. Ruderman defend them. The quote they in fact highlighted in your link was exactly the opposite of defending them.
At least be honest in your diatribe.

During the Vietnam War era the FBI infiltrated many anti-war groups with agent provacateurs whose job was to steadily steer the organizations towards ever more extreme positions and actions. The goal was to push law abiding activist groups into non law abiding territory so they could be busted and convicted, or at the least just make them look like wacko extremists who were far out of the mainstream. The rise of global social media seems like it is just a ready made tool for that type of infiltration by either law enforcement or corporate interests, you don't even have to send people to join groups in person, it could all happen online, one person could have and maintain 10 aliases. This is part of why I take anything on social media with a large block of salt.

Although I have been dismayed by Ruderman's GMO and fracking emphasis, I have seen nothing which makes me think he condones or supports violence or property destruction. I wish he would refocus and stop wasting his time on those issues when so much more is attainable, but I don't see him defending terrorists. Pahoated's post does not help his cause or those of us who wish for a different approach from Ruderman.

Really, it gives me renewed faith in this blog to see the practical posts made by csgray and chunkster.

This would seem the perfect opportunity for Russell to vehemently disavow any person or group or their actions, that would advocate any illegal acts against farmers crops, equipment, or other property, or vandalism or violence of any kind to advance the anti-GMO, or anti-Monsanto etc. agenda that Russell appears to share.
Opportunity knocks!

For those that didn't go to the link:
"For all of us involved in the GMO issue, it is clear that an individual farmer is an inappropriate target for GMO anger, and no one advocates vandalism."
I think the issue is in what he didn't say. Note that he says "an individual farmer is an inappropriate target"
nothing about corporate farmers (of which almost all individual farmers are).
pahoated - Thanks for posting that link. I had no idea those anti-science zealots were advocating destruction and murder! I googled and went to FB pages of some of them and further checked them out. They are indeed, eco-terrorists.
