time to market tin foil hats and g / jock straps. The radars about again - like running a microwave (a lot of them) with the door open.

Keying up on the police radio I had about 30 years ago would open some garage doors. Oops!

More like more air traffic for a month. The ops are for more instrumented areas the the far west than Hawaii island, but they do some ops here. It looks like they do a lot of sniper simulations. They are going to be testing Growlers, so there might be more than garage doors affected. There is the possibility of testing of EMP weapons on test residential areas, to study infrastructure denial effects. Probably at least a couple more very high altitude bomb drops by B2's. More helicopter traffic for a month, and thinking about NED, this is the last of their funding, so they will be really spending a lot for helicopter surveillance and cannabis eradication. It is NED, not the local police, so that is why the local almighty county council to make eradication the lowest priority is gibberish to them. The local police have to support NED as officers of the law.

Also, less weather radar .... as they have blocked Hilo for sections of their training....

For those that do get garage door effects (not as likely this far off of the high use areas around Honolulu), most newer controllers have a button on the inside to disable the radio control... making the "ghost door" operations unlikely, but also making your remote worthless for the time...

I'd heard that years ago but I don't think that proved true. Besides, I'd heard it was from resting a hand held radar on the lap while waiting for victims. My inner thigh still glows.

In some parts of Honolulu if RIMPAC opened your garage door while you were at work, you could come home to find your stuff all gone.

This problem only applies to older openers ! The latest generation uses a frequency that is not shared with the military !

Bullwinkle starts another of his scary posts about cancer and problems that don't concern those of us in Puna !

How many of you have garage door openers ??

Do you understand that most radio frequencies are harmless ??

If you are really worried you should get that cell phone out of your pocket right now and back away from the radiation emitting computer screen you are staring at !!!

Actually, aircraft carriers knock out garage doors every time they arrive and leave for overhaul, checking systems out:

Why garage door openers stop working when the Lincoln's in port

They aren't on a single frequency, they are spread spectrum. The carriers are also pumping out a lot more transmission power. It is usually within a few miles of the carrier in dock though, so there is little chance of affecting Hawaii island. The carriers aren't going to be anywhere close.
