Advice Water Cooler Servicing
#1
Our water cooler stopped cooling. It's the kind that just cools only and doesn't heat the water. It just stopped cooling. Anyone have any suggestions where to take it for service. Sears service dept wouldn't look at it. I left a phone message with Aircond Hawaii Inc in Hilo. Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Andrew

Hi Tink:

When I plug it in it will periodically make a clicking sound. One click only. other than that there are no noises.

How much is the water cooler worth?
Most are only $125 or so new. Not worth a repair.

My colleague in Kona said the same to me and that may well be the best answer. But if there was an easy cheaper solution I was going to try first to fix it. I will likely end up getting a new one as you say.

Sounds like a dead short somewhere causing the click ( internal circuit breaker). Probably starter coil inside is shot, service call is more expensive. Time for a new one...

OK thanks re your oppinions of having it fixed.

What are Punawebers opinions of whether room temperature water storage is safe or not. I get a couple of 5 gallon water jugs filled at the county spigot. I use the water from my not-working water cooler dispenser for drinking and cooking.

Been doing exactly that for years. The "water cooler" never actually gets turned on.

County water is treated and should keep O.K. Best to store out of sunlight.

Might just want to get one of those "ceramic crock" style ones. Maybe $30?
