yesterdays Hawaiian Acres Board Meeting
#1
well.. at yesterdays meeting the take over group made many outbursts, plenty of name calling and lots of accusations. one of the groups members acted the fool when he jumped up grabbed a hammer and ranted on in a bizarre manner until removed by a vote from the membership. no supporting documents were presented for the board or membership to read stating the reasons why the board should be removed, except one that was a print out of various state laws from North Carolina law. the presenter of the document stated that "North Carolina law is the same as Hawaii so we should follow it". the whole meeting was crazy. the membership voted and the vote was unanimous to retain the present board.

well let me just correct one or two things.
1) you weren't there
2) no name calling
3) Hawaii non profit law is the same as n. carolina non profit. something to do with standardization.
4) the print out also included excerpts from the hawaii state laws on community associations, our own by-laws, and roberts rules. (which you would of known...if you had been there etc..)
5) the board voted to retain the board. no other vote was needed other than one board member, but the vote was by no means 'unanimous' (which again you would have known etc.etc.). in comparison to the number of solicited proxies even an unanimous vote from every resident present against the board can be completely ignored. the proxy vote system makes all discussion pointless. sad but there you are.
6) i believe, from the bottom of my heart, that this is not legal
7) that was the end of my political career. i wish you all well. Smile

There was no signage at any of the entrances of HA 10 days prior to this meeting as required by law.
Plus the meeting is on a sunday which is a church day for our ohana.
Regardless - it is the same same year in and year out an see no noticeable difference in the community of any changes for the better.
If solar was installed on the roof of the club house and the website maintained showing board members and a accounting of monies and what it is used for and where it has gone, yearly,we might pay.
In the 1970s we were on the HACA board for the 3 years required to be a productive resident an lot owner of Hawaiian Acres.
Since the 1970s we have observed that it is the same ol same ol and not much new.
We choose not to be a member of the club as we are lot owners and have done our required duty in the last century .
Kudo's go to the current members of the H.A. circus club where folks agree to disagree .

you must be confused . i was there and you were most definitely told several times that you were out of order . there was name calling , not nice. your print out was a mess all over the place with bits and pieces of law, bylaws from various references nothing congealed to make sense .

Th print out BTW, very clearly showed the laws in question, highlighted for convenience, in context to the laws they relate to. each separate layer of law was clearly labeled "non-profit'; 'Community association" HACA bylaws,' And Roberts"
in addition, to quoting the exact law, with no omission, abbreviation, or paraphrasing, i provided the Hawaii state law as i believe it applies to the acres in its entirety to the board for reference so that there could be no argument about what it said.
do not trash my research jus coz you don't love me any more Sad

There are things that matter and things that don't. I was there and Laurie's presentation was spot on. The way things are run by the board using Robert's Rules is hostile;and, it is not showing good faith. Granted the "you oughta's" as one at large area rep refers to the membership is just an example of how absurd this whole thing is.

I have to agree the opposing side did not present a very forceful reason to remove the board. However, just the fact that it has come this far could be an indicator of just how out of touch this board has become. No one from the board tried to mitigate or open a dialogue with the concerned members. Just the usual block and duck.

We policed ourselves and we find nothing wrong.
