Recreation this w/e in Puna
#1
I was just wondering if the hotponds were cleaned up at all? Is there still tape blocking off the public one? Does anyone know of the water quality in there? What about driving on 130? Is there any area where you can see the smoke from the lava flow- or have any other type of view of the flow? Thanks.

The tide pools are usuable but the parking is back by the mailboxes.

I dont know about the hot ponds but this is from county website -

Ahalanui Pond closed until further notice for repairs and debris clean up. However, Ahalanui Park will remain open for picnic area and pavilion use.

Gates were open and people were swimming in the ponds without being chased out by the life guards a couple of days ago. Still some tape up marking areas where there is damage, mostly loose rocks on land that got pushed there by Iselle waves but passable and the pool was delightful.

life is short. enjoy it
