Wonder if they are Cat D11R's with rippers. They can churn through rock pretty quick, and a dream to run! Start her up, turn on the climate control, turn up the tunes and get rippin'!! Tree in the way? Whoops! Blade musta caught it while lookin' back at the rippers boss, sorry.

Have a '41 D2 dozer to use as a garden tractor, run the D11 for work occasionally. Like Fred Flintstone car compared to a Lamborghini.
Either way, looks like they have the right equipment for the job to do in short time.

Well while I am all for having necessary routes for those who live South of Pahoa I cringe at all the other ripping and bulldozing that goes on here in Puna. A lot near me of 2 acres has been being ripped constantly daytime for the last two weeks and there are four lots on my road in my block that have been totally cleared of ohia and ripped in the last 6 months. To me that is not respect for the Aina. A housepad, sure. if you're going to farm, maybe, but just cause the bulldoze operators think it's the only way. It's a shame. I've planted in cinders above ground and never had my property torn apart. Have a 4 acre botanical garden. Took out all the invasive plants by hand and left the Ohias. Wonder what Pele thinks of all the destruction of her lava? Also the helicopter co's are cleaning up but how about a little peace for those of us who are worried and have to put up with the vibration and noise.
