Air Purifiers for Vog?

Up here in Mountain View, we've had a couple days out of the past couple weeks that have been unusually voggy, to the point that I have been coughing, and ended up taking a drive to escape the vog. I just bought a $40 air purifier that somehow uses baking soda (at Costs U Less), and wondered if anyone else has attempted to clean the air within one room of their house? If so, what type of air purifier seems to work the best? Thanks for advice.

ran into this by chance - activated carbon / charcoal filters would be your best bet, me thinks - hope it helps
