Reasonable expectation to privacy.

Here in Hawaii what does the law say? If you have left a natural buffer on your property for your personal privacy when in a given area of your own yard and a neighbor violates that privacy by taking pictures of you through your vegetation screen from their property when you are in that expected private area, are they violating privacy laws in Hawaii?

Not Hawaii specific but these may give you a stating place for your research:

http://www.ehow.com/list_6809688_laws-ag...awaii.html

This was written for photojournalists but is very thorough:

I hope you can resolve this, that would really suck!

It looks like something directly applicable may be contained in these Hawaii statutes.
Hawaii Revised Statutes Sections 711-1111, 803-41 to 803-43, 803-47.5 to 803-48 (1997)

Edit to change 7111-111 to 711-1111 source typo.

interesting question. when exactly does a peeper cross the threshold to become a Tom. (no offense to those who may have that given name. where did that expression come from anyway?)

LMAO!

Kane, this is bizarre (almost)...Is is hypothetical or happening? First question that comes to mind, "Why taking pictures?".

Don't know the law yet, but many good brains here can help.

Lavalava, you slay me sometimes! (Not only on this thread, but throughout.)

JMO.

ETA: Lodestone, you're killin' me...

I gotta add this: In the 1960's my Mother, beautiful woman, would water the yard with all of our hedges "covering" her. Our neighbor, would stand on his outdoor chair and look at her through binoculars! [:0] Promise. When she would fish on the "growing" in front of our house (rocks with puka full of aholehole, etc.) the surveyor for Bishop Estate would ogle her through his freaking long range survey thingy that was brass with the dial things. OMG. [:0]
