Why does the police in Hawai'i back into private driveways thus partially entering private property with their vehicles when turning around in dead end roads instead of making their turns between empty lots? Just asking because it seems to me somewhat inappropriate behavior especially at nighttime when it wakes us up and gets the dogs barking?

My guess would be it's quicker for them to do so. I live on a dead-end road and have not seen this behaviour before, but I would have no problem with the police using my driveway to turn around, especially if they just got called to attend an incident.
Why are so many police cars driving down your dead-end road? They only drive here if they have been called.

Maybe cause that kind of turn is faster than thying to turn around while staying entirely on the street? Would you rather have them stop, backup, go forward, back up, then go forward again, right in front of your driveway? Stop complaining. At least police are coming down your street.

Check your property line. It usually is about 4 feet behind the utility poles. Those pesky police are probably not even on your private property.
I welcome them in my neighborhood, 24/7, and used to offer them donuts(Though since going gluten-free, I've been threatened with arrest).

Police have to J-turn into a driveway because their U-turn radius is too large for a substandard road.
At least police are coming down your street.
Exactly.

Given the way some of the people who turn around in my driveway look and behave, I'm relieved when it's the cops.

Thank you all for your comments. I too welcome the police and appreciate if they come when called. It's only since I've seen bigger vehicles than theirs turning with no problem elsewhere on our end of the road that I am wondering why the police constantly does it in our driveway. Last night shortly before midnight causing our dogs to bark continuously the police vehicle sat idling in our driveway for a while for no apparent reason before leaving our road then altogether. By the time I got to the gate they drove of and did not stop anywhere else on our road but went back into the subdivision.
I know where our property line is and therefore know for sure that they were on our property. I personally avoid making my turns in people's driveways and thought that to be common courtesy since most people who drive up our road don't use our driveway for their turns either.

Look into clearing a turn around at the end of the road

bigger vehicles than theirs turning with no problem
Size does not automatically correlate with turning radius.
I know where our property line is
Put a spike strip 6" inside the line, install a video camera, and hire a lawyer.

I'm with you on that Chunkster. Better cops than robbers.
