Aloha All,
Just a note in support of the Keaau Transfer and Reuse station. I was talking to one of the regular workers there, and found that the county has not provided any funds for the transfer station since about July. They have been able to provide their reuse services (the new garage sale tarp, and shelving additions) from the funds they collect from reuse items. There has been no funding for them since about July.
I appreciate all that this facility does for recycling, and to hear that they don't have the funds to put on their annual electronics reuse event due to lack of their regular county support has be a bit angered. This note is to muster support from the area Puna-ites to drop a note to your counsel-person and request them to get their behinds in gear to get the funding settled, so the reuse center can do the best job at keeping stuff out of the land fill.
