Feeding Our Keiki
#1
Are we feeding our Puna keiki during the summer? This is what Keaukaha is doing (below). If so, we should make sure the information is shared.

Thank you in advance for participating in all of our keiki programs this summer. We need to keep them fed, and busy, with the right activities.

Mahalo ke Akua.

P.S. Sure wish someone would open a charm school! We had to go...lol. We did, promise! [:X] Old timers may recall Mrs. Daily's private school, and Sears Charm School!!! Sorry, O/T (digressing).

I sure wish someone could explain to our keiki that they shouldn't have more keiki if they can't feed them.

Sorry, to be such a 'rain on your parade' Jim, but the wording of your post blew my mind!

Are we feeding our keiki? Well I sure hope parents are feeding their children! Jeebus.

I respect and admire charity in our community, but I also believe in solving problems not symptoms of problems.

Sorry for the mild off-topic, but I hope everyone can appreciate my line of reasoning when an issue like feeding your kids even comes to light. So very sad.

Sorry, rainyjim, but the reality is we have the highest percentage of keiki whose only meal is at school in Puna. We have the highest percentage in our schools of children who don't even have slippers!

This is our reality, and for us to deal with. Food Bank, etc., can only do so much. We all need to make sure our keiki are being nutured, and nourished. Same with our kupuna.

Unfortunately, as detailed on other threads, the benefits parents get, don't always trickle down to the keiki.

Yes, sad reality. Indeed.

i can't complain about a program simply helping to ensure all children are fed. no need any other baggage attached.

The kids didn't ask to be born and so I think they should be fed and nurtured. And have slippers!

Jeebus we give away tens of billions of dollars anually to other countries. How about we start taking care of our own.

"Give a man a fish... Teach a man to fish..."

I've always found it difficult to fish and eat my breakfast at the same time. Especially if you get a bite.

But seriously folks, maybe they could show Sesame Street while the keiki are eating, to make it an educational experience for the kids, as well as those who think it's a giveaway.

We will take care of those children lucky enough to land a County position.
