More of the same drivel from more of the same.
It should be resoundingly clear that Councilman Margaret Willie has no clue! How much will the next lawsuit cost the county?
If this should pass it will be challenged in court and overthrown, the Hawaii Department of Agriculture and the EPA regulate pesticide use and provide safety assessments. This is not the purview of the County Council.
It is a waste of time that they could be spending on something within the scope of their authority and the cost will be enormous!
Please write your councilmembers and speak out against this effort.

This just about the county using herbicides on its own land.

We are the County, so isn't that our land?
Sounds like the ("inevitable") lawsuit might set the precedent that "they" have to do what "we" tell them.

Perhaps the "protectors" can work off their sentences by pulling weeds.
There is no credible evidence that Roundup causes any harm to anything other than weeds !

For an evaluation with scientific basis, the findings of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) are below.
The evaluation found ""Glyphosate is probably carcinogenic to humans."

http://monographs.iarc.fr/ENG/Monographs...112-02.pdf
(explanation of evaluation and rationale are on pages 78 - 79).

I'm confused. The headline is about pesticides and the content is about herbicides.

Also says "Hawaii County", which sort of evens everything out.

Also included in the WHOs IARC category of "probably carcinogenic" are salt and coffee! Ooh the terrors.

When Wille gets that blank, glassy stare on a subject, you know that subject will become the usual nonsensical fixation of the moment, or several months, for the county council.
Salt, coffee and baking soda are more toxic and carcinogenic than glyphosate. It has been proven that water is toxic. Everybody that has drank it has died.
