I would be interested too! So I hope some one has info!

My dog needs some "how to behave on a leash" training.

There is one held on a regular basis in Leilani Estate at the Pavilion. The calendar of events is posted here http://www.leilaniestates.org/community-calendar.html

There's a regular gathering from 2 to 4 p.m. Sundays at Liliuokalani Park in Hilo led by The Dog Whisperer Dr. Carl Oguss . Here's a link: http://www.bigislandvideonews.com/2011/0...d-canines/

However, I now see Oguss's links go to an online training site so maybe he's outta town for a while. He usually resumes the Sunday afternoon events when he returns. Good luck.

Hilo Obedience Club has classes throughout the year. They are held on Saturdays, and usually last about 10 weeks. A variety of classes for all types of age/experience levels. They meet at the catholic school grass field above Kinoole, near the police station.

Don't forget folks, dog obedience class is about training the human owners!

Are any of these still available? Any up to date links or resources? Especially any group, or mellow young dogs available in Puna (lower HPP?) for socializing? Have old dog and a new puppy, so together, not much fun for any of us!

Call BarKing Dog Kennel. There is a lady who works there who is a dog trainer and does private training and also holds classes in Pahoa. Her name is Dawn. We took our dogs to her class and it was great.

Another vote for Hilo Obedience Training Club. An extensive program starting with Puppy Classes.
I took our young pup to that class then Canine Good Citizen.
Classes ran 8 weeks, $40.
I think there maybe info on FB. https://www.facebook.com/HiloObedienceTrainingClub/
