I'm sorry Rob. ( Punatalk ) Suggestions ???
#1
I don't know your feelings but IMO, instead of being an open minded, sharing, compassionate, tolerant, just fun/funny to be around and a part of forum, Punatalk has become a Launchpad / Soapbox for negativity. Dominated by a handful of posters who are in perpetual debate and conflict with each other.

Anyone who has been here a while can realize we have lost most of our quality, positive posters who would add relevant content with a dose of neutral, unbiased humor and maybe even a subtle, we all family, hurt no feelings, opinion.

Now it's just constant bickering amongst a few. I admit I get sucked in as well when B.S. pile gets too big but its mostly out of the desire to point out and to have folks reflect on themselves first.

Not asking for rainbows and unicorns here but you guys gotta realize you are not going to solve the Hawaii's problems on Punaweb. So maybe ease up and laugh at how overly serious things can get ... Even in paradise. Hug and laugh as in >>> we all so stoopid kine an' lets work it out.

I propose Rob to set up two temporary forums.

1. Scream and vent.

2. Solutions.

In lieu of this, I challenge all of you ( you know who you are ) who are on Punaweb to hit refresh,,,,,,,, and while it's happening think of,,, then offer up some POSITIVE contributions to your ongoing debates with a, we-are-all-in-this-together-mindset,, instead of the constant, going nowhere, disparaging remarks.

Stepping off my own created Soapbox,

I agree, and rarely post because of it.

Also, I submit that they don't "know who they are".

Understand completely what your sayin' Pog. Seems to have escalated and held once the flow got really close, and TMT started up. I try, and repeat try, to let my post "simmer" by waiting 5-10 minutes or so before posting if something irritates me and then re read if I really want to post it because it applies, or whether it is just wild coconut skulled (thick headed) emotions.
Stepping away and re gathering thoughts sometimes melts the knee jerk reaction one feels at first read of a post, and gives you time to "hone" that thought into something constructive, instead of destructive.
Mahalo for posting.

Well, thanks for the thinking on this subject. I could give the whining crowd their own real estate here but can't compel then to post their bickering to that spot.

Fact is that I have, from the first, intended Punaweb to be a place where Puna can represent itself. I don't think that it is appropriate to hide or conceal the fact that we have an awful lot of dummies in the district. Puna is what it is and a major vein of stupid runs through the district. Wish I could be more optimistic.

I will add this: We've survived a lot so far and these things tend to come and go in waves.

I try not to let the 'diversity' here get in the way too much. I know that almost any topic will be interrupted by someone either trying to turn it into a TMT 'discussion' or a rant about the county, State or judiciary and how badly it's mismanaged in their opinion. I try not to feed the trolls. I miss the time when it was a kinder gentler forum, however.

Just call me Mike

Puna is what it is and a major vein of stupid runs through the district.

That vein runs all the way to Honolulu; I'm less certain which direction it flows.

There have been times in the past when I have thought "Wow. What happened?" because the tone had changed so dramatically as particularly strident voices took over. I think that Rob's philosophy is correct in that dealing with a certain amount of foolishness is the price of admission to a public forum.

Why not just remove the "Non Conforming " members from Punaweb, that should solve the problem!!
