Senator Gil Kahele has passed away at the age of 72. As a gay man, I will never forget his eloquent defense of same sex marriage during the contentious Senate debate in 2013. RIP

Sad indeed. I was on the Hokulea with him right before it set sail, and he seemed fit as a fiddle! Condolences to his family and friends.
