For those who do not know, it is about a 2 1/2 mile hike each way. We walked about 2 miles in and decided that was enough for the time we had. This was just before Christmas and there were a lot of puddles to try to go around. The trail starts at the end of Beach Road.

It's been dry for a few weeks, so most of those puddles will be gone now - - until the next rain.

Although it's WAY longer, I always prefer to walk along the coastline. Much more to see, less mosquitoes. You can get to it from the short trail at the end of Paradise Ala Kai. I don't think you can park there though.

It's 3.5 miles each way. The sign is incorrect. GPS showing 3.5 miles is correct.

I just measured on Google Maps, it's 2.25 miles one way from the Beach Road parking lot to Shipman Beach as the Nene flies, so probably 2.5 miles with the twists and turns. I've hiked it many times and that seems about right.
