Tiffany Edwards Hunt - charged with voter fraud...
http://www.hawaiitribune-herald.com/news...oter-fraud
From the article:
"The Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release that the crime, a Class C felony, is alleged to have occurred between Aug. 7, 2012, and Nov. 5, 2012, the dates of that year’s primary and general elections.
Voter fraud is punishable by up to five years in prison and/or a fine of $10,000."

I find no pleasure here. I did not want Tiffany on council and that came to pass. But I do not like seeing anyone facing such a charge and, at a minimum, the cost and stress for a local family... her husband, children and business will be affected.
I am aware that Tiffany did not hesitate to cause costs and stress for others and that what she is dealing with here is effectively a self inflicted wound.
But no joy in this for me.
Assume the best and ask questions.

The Unitarian Universal Church held a Candidate forum where a question was asked by Roxanne Lawson, "How can Tiffany Edwards Hunt run for County Council District 5 when she lives in Hilo, District 2" This was her answer...

She is now asking her "friends" for donations to help pay for her attorney.

She knowingly and willfully got herself into this mess with ulterior motives. She should get herself out of it by herself.

It seems that many of her supporters think that Tiffany should not have been reported. That everybody should have just kept their mouths shut even after she admitted to tax fraud on camera at the candidate forum. Would Tiffany not have gone home and done the research if another candidate had made such statements? Tiffany said to the press that it was all “political theatre” and that it would be proven that she was innocent. Over $3,900 later it didn't happen that way.
Tiffany is trying to make me the cause of all her effect by casting sly innuendos about my character in an effort to somehow disparage me and make herself look good. Tiffany is trying to elicit pity and sway the public to be on her side by vilifying those who have, in her mind, brought this travesty upon her.
Many of her supporters believe that Tiffany is so great that they have decided that no matter what defense she puts up, she is innocent and that she has done nothing wrong and if she did do it, it is because she didn't know she was doing wrong.
Sorry but that doesn't fly when you are dealing with voter fraud. This is an intentional crime and that is why it is a class C felony and that is why there has to be a preponderance of evidence to hand it over to the grand jury. Now she has been indicted and is out on supervised release. I have a good idea of why she did it but that is another story.
If anything, I pity Tiffany Edwards Hunt.

I would still like to know, even if it's only Punaweb speculation, why Tiffany thought it was so important to vote in a district where she didn't live.

I think the only crime Tiffany is 'guilty' of is trying to be a politician. Claiming a home owner's exemption on a property where she doesn't live (as if nobody walks that line) is a crime when you get caught but had she not signed up to run for elected office it would have never been an issue. That's the way the game is played, as in God help you if you inhaled. Or how about if you don't do an EIS, or give away go aheads before you have a contested case hearing? Same old thing. All that ink, eh? Unless of course you're a local boy, exempt

It is a very long story from 2008 to the grand jury indictment in 2016. I just have to wait until the trial is over as I may be called as a witness and I don't want to compromise the prosecutors case. Fair enough?
