Unexplained lights over the Big Island
#1
Reports are coming in from the observatories tonight about "lights" from somewhere in the Kalapana area, heading over Puna and then over Mauna Kea, with one or two making low approaches to a couple of the larger observatories. The telescopes using lasers reported they went "dark" for no apparent reason but the lasers started working again after the lights left. MK rangers were called but didn't get to the summit in time. Oddly enough, the telescope webcams didn't record the event, but it seems they also stopped working during the incident. One of the stranger nights on Mauna Kea...

I'm used to fielding telephone calls in the middle of the night, but they usually involve technical issues or how best to carry out specific observations. Never thought we'd have to think about a policy for UFOs.

PS. There's now speculation that the magnitude 4.3 earthquake in Ka'u tonight was caused by UFO activity.

Tom, I know you as a man of science, but on a night like this, sometimes you just gotta shake it off ...

I was really hoping this would last until daylight hours, you know. It's not cool to give away an April Fool's joke so quickly! [Wink]

Opihikao,

So sorry I got you. April Fool! I mean that in the nicest way! It's a British tradition to say that so hope you forgive me.

I've done this kind of thing before but will have to try harder next year I think.

LMAO!! Much aloha, Mr. Tom... You had me going for more than a New York minute...I almost went outside to look!

Good day to you, Sir.

Lol, thanks for the fools laugh. Some on the big island did witness a rare type of fly by recently.

Also some very loud unexplainable sounds have come from the puna area at times, remember this.

Anyway had I read this post from Tomk last night, I would have been up and outside for more than that NYM. Mahalo.
