homelessness is a disease?

http://www.hawaiitribune-herald.com/news...-condition

Thought about putting this in the politics forum, but...

Seems this Josh Green fella might need a reality check from someone, somewhere? I understand his desire to house the homeless, but I am Picard-style face palming so hard that I may have a self-injury soon.

Is there something I don't understand about how absurd this idea is?

Cheers,
Kirt

Agreed - especially after we hear all the time about the percentage of those who actually CHOOSE to be homeless. Homelessness is a tough subject though, for sure.

ok knieft, i am face planting with you. so, make up a disease and think the insurance companies are going to pay?!?!?! so those of us who pay for our insurance think our rates are high now?
no that is not a paradigm shift, mr. green, that is another of a long line of taxes/wealth distribution, so at least call it what it is... the list keeps growing, makes you wonder how all the people ever made it to adulthood with all these new "diseases"

It's not absurd if it allows a redirection of funding.

Perhaps into some $500/sf "recycled" container village.

Yes, yes the homeless should quarantined in a fenced in villiage... lest it be a contagious disease.

I just watched an episode of "House of Cards" where the President declared the unemployment in DC to be a national disaster so he could divert 3 billion in FEMA funds to inventing jobs for people.

So yeah, something right out of fiction. This is a proposal ripe for abuse. Maybe some people can get an Rx for "homeless" so they can move out of their parent's basement. Add in some food stamps and welfare money and one can be set for life.

I agree that something needs to be done to address the homeless situation, but lets call it what it is, not heap more trouble onto an already broken medical system.
