Blatant abuse of power - Trip Advisor
#1
I can't believe this actually happened. I'm in shock and a bit enraged. I was looking at Trip Advisor regarding the Hilton Naniloa. Someone asked if they should stay at the Hilton Naniloa or another hotel. There are a few general comments and a few slightly negative ones toward the Naniloa. The negative poster, who is supposed to be a Big Island expert, has not stayed there but based her opinion on other reviews.

Since I was there in November I thought I would add my positive experience, so I signed up and talked about what we liked. Not ONE negative word or comment about any other poster, the hotel or inappropriate language. Strictly our positive experience. The original poster even thanked me.

Flash forward a few hours and a local piped in with comments that I only had 1 post and I was suspicious. It was the same person who posted negative comments and had never stayed there. Then my post dissapeared and was replaced with a comment that I did not meet posting guidelines. BS! It was the negative poster that said I was suspicious, who I think is a mod - Shea. I also think she's just pissed that I offered a contary opinion to hers.

I don't know why I'm so outraged but I am.

Trip advisor sucks.
Assume the best and ask questions.

I think if enough people flag your post then it is automatically removed.
You should contact TripAdvisor (they do respond) and innocently ask what happened, don't accuse anyone.
The person you mentioned and her friend have been holding the Big Island forum hostage for a long time.
Any positive comments about Puna get removed.

Let it go.. the only thing people can complain about is having to park across the street. I think they did an amazing job remodeling.

The parking thing bothers Me. But that is going to change depending on how fast hawaii state gets their redevelopement plan in action.

I was suspicious, who I think is a mod - Shea.

She's a Trip Advisor bulk poster, quantity, not quality. As you noticed she's only too happy to offer an opinion without firsthand knowledge. She posted a few times on Punaweb in 2014 during the lava flow attempting to save face, after she was discovered posting negative and inaccurate comments about Puna on Trip Advisor. She repeatedly told people to cancel their B&B reservations because the roads here would all be shut down.

You could never convince a monkey to give you a banana by promising him limitless bananas after death in monkey heaven.

My experience advertising on Trip Advisor was not good. It was a nightmare actually. Take your money then let a jealous person write falsified reviews. Actually it takes about a month for an employee to even glance at the review in question and then say "Sorry, free speech" even when you can prove it's falsified. Horrible company.
