Mauna Kea Management report and schedule.
#1
Update here on what has been or is scheduled to happen atop Mauna Kea.

http://www.bigislandvideonews.com/2017/0...or-report/

Sometimes it's hard to watch the same people in charge of the Mauna Kea Management because of what has transpired over the past few years on the Mountain. In other words, it's hard to trust or like this Mauna Kea Management Director Stephanie Nagata and it's amazing she is still in this director's position today. Tensions and emotions ran very high during her testimony in the TMT hearing.

Couple videos here showing Stephenie Nagata being cross examined by a couple folks in the recent TMT hearing.

Many Hawaiians and local residents were upset with Stephenie Nagata's allowance of stones being taken down or Ahu and Shrine removals from Mauna Kea. Amazing to me that Nagata in her position wouldn't know what an Ahu, other wise known as a Cairn was used for.

When were these ahu built?
If they were constructed recently, did the builders illegally move any rocks on Mauna Kea for their personal ahu, or if not, did they import rocks from a lower elevation possibly introducing bacteria, insects, fungi that might be harmful to the wekiu bug?

Keep in mind this discussion about ahu removal only applies to recently constructed Ahus that do not appear on any of the surveys and are obviously newly constructed.

"Emotional responses" don't mean they are correct. Here's her full testimony so people can see for themselves and not just the cross examinations.

The process is to build new Ahus you need a permit. Ancient and historical Ahus and sites obviously are excluded, but people going up there and building new things can't just start building ahus. Their main complaint is you can't remove new Ahus -- some intensionally built to block TMT. And they don't agree with which native Hawaiian groups are consulted about cultural aspects.

Should we all just start building stuff up there and claim it's for religion?

Amazing to me that Nagata in her position wouldn't know what an Ahu, other wise known as a Cairn was used for.

She knows what an ahu is, but she obviously didn't want to get dragged into a discussion about all the possible uses, some religious, some not. Saying an ahu is a structure is correct. Saying all ahus are shrines is not -- even you gypsy chose to call them a cairn and did you read your link? So the leading question of did you remove a "shrine"? Was why she refused to allow the questioner to define ahu's a shrines.

HOTPE, Great question regarding when the Ahu was built. I am Not sure enough to answer your Question as I did not take part in the Building of the Ahu.
HOTPE, Was the Ahu built before or after the Wekiu bug being removed from the endangered candidate list in 2011?
The Wekiu bug is somewhat famous as very few endangered candidates are ever taken off this list once on the list. This removal of the Wekiu Bug from the endangered candidate list may have been very convenient for the TMT project to move forward, jmo. This video shares some interesting issues regarding the Wekiu bug and it's habitat atop Mauna Kea's summit area.

How could the Wekiu Bug be removed from the endangered candidate list just because they were found in more sites or places atop the summit?
What if Cinder cones, the home to the Wekiu Bug were spread out or removed entirely due to Telescopes being developed?
Would the removal of the Wekiu Bugs Cinder cone homes cause them to adapt to new sites for it's survival?

What if the PGV fumes or emissions caused the Wekiu bug to mutate into a carrier for the ROD?

Could we or should we all leave the island immediately to avoid further environmental damage with cesspools or roads?

Yes.
But only if we move to a place where we will not create further environmental damage.

Perhaps we should be living the Waterworld lifestyle. All land is kapu... or non existent.

All land is kapu...

Oceans are also sacred. Perhaps it would be better if we had never evolved in the first place.
