Just a reminder to please try to keep your backyard 4th fireworks confined to the 4th. So many doggies have major phobias (we have to sedate one of ours it's so bad) and I hate for them to be scared for days on end.

LOVE the events at Lilioukalani Park! My favorite holiday.

KAILUA-KONA INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE & FIREWORKS EXTRAVAGANZA
The 22nd Annual Kailua-Kona Independence Day Parade will take place on Tuesday, July 4, at 6:00 p.m. Starting at the Kekua'okalani Gym/Pool Complex, the parade will proceed south on Kuakini Highway to Palani Road, on to Ali'i Drive, and then south on Ali'i Drive to Walua Road, just past Coconut Grove Marketplace. The parade operates with an all-volunteer committee with the support of the Rotary Clubs of Kona. Entries include neighborhood and community groups, nonprofit or commercial entries along with musical entries and floats of all kinds, multiple color guards and numerous members of the armed services as part of the parade. There will be several announcer locations throughout the parade. Following the parade, there will be a Fireworks Extravaganza over Kailua Bay, starting at 8:00 p.m. Financial help is needed to make the fireworks event happen. "FAMILY FOURTH"/ANNUAL RUBBER DUCKIE RACE BENEFIT - WAIKOLOA BEACH RESORT, KOHALA COAST
Kicking off at the Kings' beginning at 10:30am with an opening chant and Hawaiian music, followed by the annual Rubber Duckie Race Benefit for United Cerebral Palsy Assn. of Hawai'i at 3pm, followed by music by music by John Cruz, one of Hawai'i's most popular entertainers. To adopt a duck, call Kings' Shops office, at 886-8811. Special promotions will be offered from select merchants throughout the Shops. Queens' Marketplace present the Salsa Latinos at the Coronation Pavilion at 12 noon - bring your dancing shoes! At the same time, attendees can enjoy a fun selection of carnival games with prizes, amazing balloon-twist art, cotton candy and popcorn stands. Popular local bands will fill the day with music. Doors open to Waikoloa Bowl at 4:30 p.m., for an exciting concert by Tomi Isobe Blues Band and the powerful sound of the United States Air Force Band of the Pacific, followed by a fireworks extravaganza. East Hawaii County Band will be playing on July 4th at Mo`oheau Park Band Shell (Bay Front right beside the bus stop). Concert starts at 7:00 p.m. and ends with a crescendo coinciding with the fire works show over the Hilo Bay. I attended last year's show and it was very excellent.
