Government benefits
#1
Aloha kakou,

The local paper here in Washington State had a very brief article yesterday about two web sites that help people find and use government benefits. I don't care for entitlements, but I'm also not one to pass on something that my tax dollars are supporting.

These two web sites are remarkable for their ease of use and comprehensive results:

http://benefitscheckup.org/, and

http://www.govbenefits.gov

Each has a questionnaire that will sift through all the programs and give you a list of what you're looking for if your needs are specific, or a range of possibilities if you're just curious. My wife and I are concerned about health care when we move over, and I was pleasantly surprised that the http://benefitscheckup.org/ site identified three clinics (two in Hilo, one in Kona) and a pharmacy assistance program available to me through my veterans benefits. The http://www.govbenefits.gov site listed 22 programs that I would be eligible for given my background and outlook. Just too cool to have options.

Anyway, I wanted to pass along these two web sites and invite anyone discovering unique benefits on the Big Island to share them on this thread. I'll be posting this to the KonaForum and South Point sites also.
