Phone weirdness

Today and yesterday have some weird phone issues. Dial tone is there, dial a number, connects, rings, then immediately goes to this series of odd beeps. beep beep beep beep. Then today someone tried to call me, seemed to connect, then click, disconnect. Anyone else having issues? Not sure if it's just our line. Totally intermittent bc I can dial someone 4x and on the 4th, it goes through as normal.

Do you hear any crackling in the line too?
When that happens to me, along with the odd incoming & outgoing dropped calls you've mentioned, it's sometimes due to periods of heavy rain as we've experienced this past week causing problems with the wiring.

First check the connecting cable between the wall outlet & your phone, looking for green corrosion. If that cable is good, then check the connections at the box outside, and work your way through any other junction boxes you may have in your writing to the inside wall outlets.

I had same thoughts about it being caused by rain, but nope, no crackling. Perfectly clear beep beep beep. The only other time I've heard similar was when an area is overburdened by calls, like during an emergency. Not sure if overburdened lines was the case.

DT - oddly enough, several of the observatories on MK have experienced the same problem you describe which started happening in late June. After a few weeks of complaining to HawaiianTel and continuously being told it was nothing to do with them, they finally spent a week investigating and trying to fix the problem (after we told them, several times, it was their equipment at fault). The first time they informed us they fixed it the problem became even worse. Several days later they replaced a power supply unit on the summit, and the problem went away although we now are dealing with noisy phone lines, so it isn't over yet.

I feel sorry for the average HawTel customer. The observatories have several electronic engineers working for them, some with PhDs, yet HawTel ignored their expertise and bullsh*tted us. What chance does your everyday HawTel customer have?

Wow - TomK - interesting. Too bad about the b.s.'ing. They do that bc they can. I wonder if the whole system is just outdated and falling apart.

Not so much with the observatories, who have the expertise to tell the HawTel engineers and technicians exactly where the problem lies.

It wasn't aliens as we keep track of where all of them are and none have been hired by HawTel so far. The last one that was approved to work at HawTewl disappeared somewhere near the Kalapana UFO landing pad while supposedly fixing a short circuit on one of the nearby utility poles. In the meantime, we've just been sticking to telling HawTel about their failing equipment and hoping they might take the time to fix it.

I dunno, Tom. I think maybe those beeps are a message of some sort.
