My wife and I have lived here (Hawaii) a couple of years and are looking for a new dentist. On the manland, my dentist had an ultrasonic tooth cleaning setup where a stream of water was ultrasonically excited to remove plaque. I felt like this form of treatment was pretty good at removing plaque.
My wife has been to a couple of different dentists in Hilo and their dental assistants have both used the old scrape and gouge method. I have asked various friends if there are any dentists here that provide ultrasonic prophylaxis, and nobody seems to know. Does anyone know of any dentists in Puna or Hilo who do ultrasonic tooth cleaning?

Contact Neal Nakashima's office at 935 0052. I've had a cleaning session by a hygienist who used such a device. She was not my usual hygienist so I cannot give you a name but she used the device.
