Lenticular clouds above the Big Island
#1
With high winds at the summits and conditions perfect for high cloud formation, lenticular clouds are forming just east of Mauna Kea:

For those interested, the CFHT Cloudcam is worth keeping an eye on, especially the two-hour loop (although right now it's a half hour loop as the camera only turned on at 6 pm).

No problem at all! No astronomy tonight with the winds and the clouds, but the lenticulars make up for it. The winds are due to increase a little overnight and remain high through Sunday night, so we may have these clouds for a while. Current winds at the summit are averaging around 60 mph with gusts into the 70s and 80s, but they are relatively constant which helps with the formation of these types of cloud formations.

If it's clear early Sunday morning there's a fair chance of seeing them from sea level.

Whoah! A big spooky one forming right now - along with lights (stars). This'll set off the conspiracy theorists!

Nibiru!
It's finally arrived.
Who knows what lurks beneath their misty cloud shrouded atmosphere?

I forgot about Nibiru. Another end of the world is supposed to happen tomorrow (Sunday) due to Nibiru's approach, e.g.,

It's Sunday in much of the world right now and no one has reported anything yet, but I'll keep an eye out and might give my mum a call in the UK tomorrow morning to see if the world's ended.

Very cool. (not the end of the world thing, which would be bad, the beautiful photos.)
