Took the 4AM Kalapana lava boat tour Thursday morning. When we got there we saw a 30 foot wide river of lava entering the ocean. Crew said it was the first time they had seen something that big.

Very rough ride to and from. Barf factor extremely high, especially when at flow since you are sitting on a pitching ocean.

Sit on the right side of the boat if you go. Best views of the fountaining fissures on the way out and at the flow.

A little over an hour to get there.

I didn’t barf but many did. Including one of the crew!!!

Sorry, I’m not on any photo sharing sites. Only took a few pictures that didn’t turn out that great. Boat heaving too roughly to get a good shot. Just decided to enjoy the moment instead.
