What makes Harry run? He has already done Mayor, Civil Defence, has had health emergency after health crisis. He could serve the Big Island in other, unofficial(part time) capacities, so why was/is he so hot for elected office??

Better than being stuck at home I'd imagine.
Honey-do lists and all.
Just my guess.
Besides, the public employee unions wanted Harry.
That's how he got 51% in the Primary.

Harry takes good care of the county employees and especially good care of the vendors and contractors. Taxpayers? Not so much.
Assume the best and ask questions.

He recently said that what he loves doing best is being mayor. Why that is so is a matter of conjecture to most of us - but that that is his love explains why he keeps doing it. He has run in 4 of the last 5 mayoral races.

What makes Harry run?

He's barely walking today.
This morning he was taken to the hospital & diagnosed with pneumonia.
He's agreed to stay home and rest.

Wonder if it's related to his heart, his time in the hospital, or the vog? Poor guy.

That's just it. Why do it? Relentless BI ambition? Of course, there's no vacation house to recuperate in, but why opt for the stress? I can't fathom it

I do have a very poor opinion of Kim's handling the Puna situation.
But, I take no pleasure in the man's health problems.

Even so, out of curiosity, If Kim dies in office, which under the circumstances looks to be a strong possibility, who or what do we end up with?

AS bad as I think it is, what we might end up with could be worse.

Was a Democrat until gun control became a knee jerk, then a Republican until the crazies took over, back to being a nonpartisan again.
This time, I can no longer participate in the primary.
