A new climate change study led by a UH professor has found that the consequences of unchecked CO2 emissions and temperature increases are more dire than previous studies indicated. Hawaii will be hotter, have more storms, higher seas, and more flooding:
society “faces a much larger threat from climate change than previous studies have suggested.”
“Overall, our analysis shows that ongoing climate change will pose a heightened threat to humanity that will be greatly aggravated if substantial and timely reductions of greenhouse gas emissions are not achieved," the scientists concluded, while urging society to take steps now to prevent the worst-case scenarios of climate change.
UH Professor Daniele Spirandelli and co-author of the study (said) “Clearly, the outstanding question is, how many wake-up calls will it take to wake up?”
“It’s going to be a dangerous world in the future.

But worry not, if you are a registered Republican none of this will have any effect on you.

Correct: God will take care of it.
Probably by starting over.
Maybe with the bees.

There is some truth to that statement - - although it would be more accurate to say wealthy people will be less affected. I read an article recently which suggested 1st world, relatively wealthy people are more likely work indoors with AC rather than outdoors, and they have more disposable income available with which they can buy their way out of some impacts of climate change with mitigating measures. Initially anyway.

And if you are a registered Democrat in Hawaii, you can oppose all alternatives to fossil fuels that might actually be economically viable...

Seeb,

Just for perspective:

"
That much is uncontroversial. A more questionable claim is that the lower solar output was responsible for the "Little Ice Age", a period of exceptionally cold winters across Europe in roughly the same time period. However, the Little Ice Age was mostly confined to Europe rather than being a global phenomenon (which the major ice ages were, tens of thousands of years ago), the summers were not strongly affected, and researchers have at least one more likely explanation: volcanoes. Large eruptions of volcanoes send enough ash particles into the high atmosphere to absorb and reflect sunlight back into space, cooling the planet slightly."

No, they say .3C drop maximum with a grand minimum, which is probably more dramatic than the solar minimum being predicted from 2020-2070. That won't do much to counteract climate change.
