IQ test for dogs
#1
Just learned that Dr.Overall developed 17 tests to determine a dog's IQ.
Among the furry participants German sheppard was the best.
No surprise to my boxer. He heard it from me:"Come on ,a German sheppard would have figured it out in 5 seconds!"
He knows,I was just teasing.I love him I don't care about his IQ.
But the test could be helpful for K-9 units.

P.S.The tests are new and have nothing to do with existing commercial products.

My Golden (really smart, problem solver, driven) failed K9 school --- they found him to be "self rewarding". They couldn't do much of anything with him, unless woof decided it was in his interest.

My daughter (trainer) saved him from the "chamber" realizing she had found a match

good for me, even in retirement I still get to negotiate all day - only difference is, I have a Golden Retriever on the other side of the table

better for him - he is still in bed as of 1130 this morning, it will be time for his negotiated walk soon, why bother to get up early?

okay. very interesting.

yesterday, one of my dogs, booboo bear, started getting overprotective over mom's dinner. he started acting-up. in the meantime the three other dogs were sleeping and were stirred up by him. all ears perked up and hair standing up (yes, they have food agression). i immediately shooed the two largest ones out and then tried to get mr. booboo out the front door. boy, did he kick and scream (growl) all the way. had to show him who the ALPHA was. anyway, mom's caregiver is feeling sorry for him and starts babying him. boy if i just didn't want to give him a slap, the caregiver, not the dog! i didn't appreciate him trying to "save" booboo or undermine me. a little off subject, but our pets need to know who the boss is no matter what.

perhaps they will hear
"a great many people think they are thinking when they are merely rearranging their prejudices."

To rephrase a well known quote(there are no kids, threre are little people),I'd say there are no dogs, there are furry people.
A friend of mine has 2 dogs: the poodle and the doberman.
Okra, the poodle is a real bitch(in all senses of this word). When she is nursing her kids, she does it only up to the point. When she doesn't feel like it,she kicks out the little ones real hard.Rona, the doberman, always comes to rescue them.

My Cheasapeake had great smarts and the ability to catch a frisbee on the fly.

When I tried it, all I got was a cut lip.

Two kinds of dogs in the world. The ones that figure out the downside of chasing skunks the first time , and those that never do...

mine being the latter let me pass along this tip

when some thing smells really really bad, I am talking two days of not being able to smell anything else after, bad .....

baking soda and peroxide, make a paste, it works

I went online and found this after blowing through a couple of cans of tomato juice

Rusty, the dogs, like people, might have some behavioral problems, which requires the help from a specialist. My friend adopted a dog who peed on the carpet when he didn't have enough attention. He was insecure.Time and
love and a lot of walks eventually cured that. But it could be much complicated than that.Yours might have a problem with you being "Alpha-male".But I am not a specialist.
Talk to your vet.He might recommend you one.
Do you have a pet door?

Bullwinkle,I think your dog does it when you don't have much to do around the house)):
