aloha!

greetings from Maui...where we have lived and worked (too hard) for many many years (raising our boys) Brand new empty-nesters..looking to kick it down a notch. We live upcountry...so like being away from rush...just not off the grid

Was hoping for some input on the areas, neighborhoods...good and bad, pros and cons.

Where do you live? I know that the area is vast....and many different climates, differences and matters of taste.

Hoping for insight....from those who know.

I saw that you were here, too...figured you might respond.
Are you on Hilo-side, now?
If so...cool! Maybe you can fill us in on the areas, before we come over to look around.
I just thought it would be cool to get info from those who really live there.

Welcome to this side. You've probably done it, but if you do a search on a particular area in Puna, chances are there is a discussion or two archived. Of course, I'm a tad partial to the Hamakua coast - nothing wrong with it IMHO [][][].

Curious as to your off grid comment as getting away from the rush here may very well involve that consideration.

Hope you get lots of helpful posts.
