the next GET increase

Public testifies against tax increase, Council approves it anyway -- if they're not going to represent the people, can we fire them and save some money?

Ashley has apparently been brainwashed into believing that "the GET is a gift from the Legislature". Perhaps she will feel differently when none of that revenue makes its way into her district.

It's scary when people vote for representatives that say it's a gift to steal from the same people.

Next cycle, new rep.

Maybe do some research prior to voting...

The council rep (Ohara) who was unseated by the "gift from the legislature" current rep (Ashley) blithely voted for several tax increases herself. When I criticized her in an email for not questioning the county budget and not demanding more for Puna before voting for tax increases Ohara literally told me it wasn't her job. I couldn't believe it so I saved the emails.

As for Ashley, "Meet the new boss . . . same as the old boss." I look forward to voting her out in the next election unless she really turns around and starts asking some hard questions about money. And for those of you who decry the turnover in the Puna council seat, I'll just say that when we get one that's worth a damn, maybe they'll be allowed to stick around. And these jokers are pushing for four year council terms. No way!
