new Italian restaurant in Orchidland ?
#1
Social media is reporting that the construction project across from the LDS church is going to be an Italian restaurant with a fresh fruit / vegetable stand.

Does anybody know anything about this? With all the restaurants opening up in the Puna Kai shopping center there is going to be a lot of hiring in that sector.

From the building permit:

PROPOSED RESTAURANT AND ATTACHED COVERED AG PRODUCTS SALES AREA. (24X40 KITCHEN WITH PREP SINK, 3 TUB SCULLERY SINK, TABLE WITH SINK & AUTOMATIC GREASE RECOVERY UNIT. RESTAURANT AREA WITH SINK, 1 MENS BATHROOM, (LAV, WATER CLOSET, URINAL) & 1 WOMENS
Project Address 160110 ORCHIDLAND DR HI

Good thing they have the urinal covered so they don't have the same problem Luquins did.

As I understand, the urinal is only a requirement if the establishment has a liquor license so KFC didn't need one.

Who would spent thousand of dollars on a men bathroom and not put in a 200 dollar urinal. The urinal only takes pint of water to flush compare to 1 to 2 gallons of water for a toilet you get your money back really quick. I guess someone who couldn't make it when their was just a few restaurants in Paho

But more importantly.... 11 new dining options at the new mall, plus apparently Malama is going to have a wine bar with a gourmet foods menu and some other eatery, plus Italian restaurant in Orchidland, that's like getting 14 new dining options like overnight. And I still haven't tried out the new urinal at Luquins.

Who are all the wealthy customers that are going to keep 14 new restaurants afloat in Pahoa? Or will they all have cold-cases for take-out?

Don't worry, the tourists can pay for that.

I wish the venture great success.
Assume the best and ask questions.
