Did anyone else notice target hamburger prices have doubled in the last week. The price of 80% lean is now $7.00 a pound....use to be $3.50 a pound for years and "the" main reason we shop there. No wonder they had no advertised priced under shelf were they sell them. I had to scan it to find out. Now it's the same price as Safeway and other stores. So long Target.... I can get grass fed Hawaiian hamburger now for the same price.

Best stock up on some storage now. Prices are going to be off the hook next year. Lots of damage to grain crops and millions of cattle drowned during flooding this year. China having to destroy their pig herd. its going to be a food crunch. Doubly so for our little island that has to have most imported.
Btw, Where is this grass fed local beef you speak of?

They sell grass fed Hawaiian beef at Safeway and Foodland. But it only comes in once or twice a month and sells out quickly.

80% 1lb tubes less than $3.50 at Walmart. But for around the same price you can get the frozen patties at Costco, higher quality and super convenient. Straight to the pan, or just easier to portion out.

My guess is that they are almost out of stock and jacked the price up so people won't be pissed if they went in there for one thing and they were out of it. When their next barge with meat comes in look for a price drop.
Like someone else said, last I was at Walmart their frozen 1 pound chubs were $3 something.

You were right terracore. Hamburger is back down to $4.59 a pound at Target. Not as low as normal...but low enough that I will continue buying it there.
