Town Hall meeting on telehealth

Although this is about doctors on line perhaps the topic of EMF and their effect on people can be brought up.

I expect to see mounting evidence that the ubiquitous presence of electromagnetic fields is not as harmless as those with a financial interest would have us believe. It would not be the first time information damaging to the bottom line has been suppressed or mocked.

One hundred and sixty years ago "science" didn't believe that germs caused disease, so much for conventional wisdom.

This is interesting reading: your thoughts please. It's been many years since I sat in chemistry or physics class so I am no expert.

I expect to see mounting evidence that the constant arguments against technological progress are costing our society lots of time and money we simply don't have.

People who want to live without "electromagnetic fields" (or vaccinations, or the internet, etc, etc) should build communities which don't have those things instead of forcing their beliefs on the rest of us.

How about those of us with no financial interest?

So, do you have a phone? A TV? Internet??

Electric lights? Drive a car? Ride the bus? Shop at Walmart?

And maybe we should address the shortage of doctors on the island before we worry about electromagnetic cooties.
Certainty will be the death of us.

Absolutely nailed, kalianna. That is a massively bigger threat to public health.

It is interesting reading and in a field I know little about, I'm no brain scientist although do know a little about EM fields. On the other hand, the author of the webpage is rather biased. So I found it very disappointing they ended with this:

"Do you understand what this implies? Every time you hold your cellphone to your head, the microwaves of the cellphone is vibrating these calcite crystals which in turn produce electrical signals which impact and change/disrupt the cells of the pineal gland and its hormone melatonin. No wonder that the majority of people are now staggering along the sidewalks with a cellphone glued to their ears unaware of what is around them. Does it surprise you now why people, talking on their cellphone, walk straight in front of a car?"

Let's use Occam's razor. What is more likely - people's brains have been fried by EM or that they are simply so addicted to cell phones they no longer care about anything else?

Every time you hold your cellphone to your head

There are some SUP applications for cell phone towers pending the Planning Commission; members of the public testified with the usual "radiation causes cancer, destroys crops, etc".

I haven't done the math, but I'm pretty sure that holding a 600mW transmitter (FCC limit for handheld devices) against your head gives you more ERP than a 5-10W transmitter that's at least 180 feet away -- assuming you could stand at the base of the tower (you can't), and further assuming the radiation pattern of the antennas would focus power there (they don't).
