the county and state do not care about their little orphan child, road blocks part of life,, even the belt gets closed down many times a year. "Let them eat cake" is the refrain..

As the accident is near Keaau Transfer Station right, so technically there are two routes? Olaa/40th/Pohaku or 8 rd/Ainaloa. Both of them could even generally be considered as "public" "roads".

Olaa/40th/Pohaku
"Privately owned road open to the public." 9 rd/Ainaloa "Privately owned road open to the public, with a County easement." In both cases, sufficient maintenance to render the road "passable" is not guaranteed. Case in point: unpaved section and flood ditch, both at the top of Pohaku. It will be amusing if/when either/both of these are closed at the same time as the highway. Perhaps such a situation might force the issue...

Moho (8 in HA) was quite backed up this morning. Might still be.

Privately owned road open to the public ... goat trails for the amount of traffic.
Like I said, "public" "roads". Kalakoa just wants an alternate route, so County has him there simply on the definition of terms. ETA: Nixle says 130 is all good now - hope your free 2 hour staycation was pleasant and so is the rest of your shortened day!

To be clear: we need a usable alternate route, not just one that you "could" use. Nixle says 130 is all good now Somehow I doubt this -- it takes a while to drain miles of bumper-to-bumper traffic. |
