Hawaii Library changes and event cancellations
https://www.librarieshawaii.org/2020/03/...rom-hspls/ Branches are still open At this time, all 51 branches will continue to operate with standard hours. To reduce exposure, HSPLS continues to follow best sanitation practices for workplaces, as well as pulling toys and other difficult-to-sanitize items from public spaces. NEW: We want to make it easier for you to manage the items you check out from HSPLS. Starting March 16,2020, all items that are checked out (on 3/16/20 and forward) and are eligible will automatically renew two times. The only time the automatic renewal will not be placed is: 1) Seven-day loan items (Hotpicks, DVD, VHS), 2) Items that are on hold for another patron, and 3) Two renewals have already occurred. This means not having to worry about going online or using the app to renew. All programs, events and meeting room bookings cancelled in March Due to the current guidance from public health officials regarding social distancing and in the interest of protecting the communities we serve, as of Monday, March 16, 2020, we are cancelling all programs and events for the rest of the month of March, including tech classes, story times, Tax Help, book clubs and other events. The Library has also cancelled all Bookmobile service. All external meetings scheduled in any HSPLS meeting room will be cancelled or rescheduled.

I've been looking for info about the Haile Volleyball Tournament. Their website is not helpful. Has anyone heard if they are canceling ? I would think so, but can't find anything definite.

I wonder about Uncle Roberts, Makuu Market and such places. UR can attract many (hundreds but I've heard up to 2000 on Wednesday night market) in close quarters.

The Centers for Disease Control said Sunday that it was recommending that no one gather in groups of larger than 50 people for the next eight weeks, and that smaller gatherings practice “social distancing” of six-foot gaps between people.
This is not what I saw at Maku’u Market this afternoon as I drove by. Social distancing, I do not think it means what shoppers there think it means.
