Catchment Tank
#1
My memory seems to be faulty.
I thought I had seen a catchment post recently, but can't find it now.
So, here is our recent catchment experience.

When we bought 6 or 7 years ago, the catchment tank has a huge amount of leaves and black algae washed into it from our roof, possibly had never been cleaned.
I vacuumed the tank yearly for 3 years, but still didn't get it really cleaned up with more being added every year, even after adding screens to the downspouts.
I pressure washed the roof shortly before the eruption to remove the black algae growing on it.
I finally changed the downspout screens out for 1/8" screens to cut down on algae accumulation blocking them.

After the eruption we had a new roof put on using insurance money.
New gutters were part of it.
We put covers on them.

For the last 3 years, or so, we've had pretty clean water going into the tank with little accumulation.
It had no leaves in it and relatively little algae above what was left over from before.
I finally vacuumed the tank again the other day just for giggles.

It's now the cleanest I've ever seen it.
Between the new roof, the covers, and the screens, I expect the tank to stay clean for quite a while.

After cleaning it, I added a new tank cover and support.
Then, I changed out the pipe for the pump, from drawing near the bottom to a floating inlet drawing water from near the surface.
I have drank water from the tank for the 1st time ever, even though only for coffee and other cooking situations.
If it stays clean, I may even actually end up drinking from it, not yet comfortable with that idea, though.

Pressure washed then exterior of the tank, cleaned out around its base and treated its rust spots.
I'll repaint it in the near future.

Was a Democrat until gun control became a knee jerk, then a Republican until the crazies took over, back to being a nonpartisan again.
This time, I can no longer participate in the primary.
