Caution after 'Quake
#1
I was just putting some clippings in the compost bin this morning when the ground gave way underneath me. This was in dozed ground that had been stable for over 20 years. Looking around my property, there are other new pukas too. Watch where you step!

Anyone with earthquake damages should report them to civil service so they can be documented for the funds linda lingle is requesting and you may qualify for the fema low interest loan for repairs/losses ect...

Some friends of ours in Aniloa noticed a little water stain on the ceiling of their brand new addition. Hubby checked the attic & there was a fairly large puddle above the ceiling walboard. Seems like the bath vent stack had rattle & rolled a little too much on Sunday and caused a really little leak. With Monday nights rain, they have a chunk of ceiling to replace.
I also noticed that the UH-Hilo Performing Arts theater seems to have had damage to their side door walk lights. All 4 have a moon shaped chunk of cement wedged out on the bottom of the in-wall light fixture (only notices it because 1 piece had actually falled to the pavement with the light fixture glass, which broke). Our Church also has a largish crack in the lanai, it may have been there, but everybody noticed it today. Now is as good a time as any to carefully inspect things like your vent stack seals, Roofing screws that may have wiggled or snapped, post placements on piers, slabs and walls for cracks & such. Probably best to photo document (even if there is no damage, so you have a comparision).
Aloha, Carey
