Governor Invites Public to Environment Discussion
#1
HONOLULU To obtain the public's ideas on how to better
protect the environment, Governor Linda Lingle will
host the State Cooperative Conservation Listening
Session from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 25,
at the Hawai`i Convention Center, Room 317ab. The
state Department of Land and Natural Resources is
coordinating the event.

After attending a federal Cooperative Conservation
Listening Session on September 7, Governor Lingle
decided it would benefit the public to have a similar
state listening session to further discuss ideas for
enhancing cooperative conservation and partnerships.

To give everyone an opportunity to speak, there will
be a two-minute time limit. Written comments may also
be submitted.

In addition to the Governor, the listening panel will
include Linda Smith, senior policy advisor; and Peter
Young, chairman of the Department of Land and Natural
Resources. Also attending portions of the session will
be Ted Liu, director of the Department of Business,
Economic Development and Tourism; Rod Haraga, director
of the Department of Transportation; and Sandy Lee
Kunimoto, director of the Department of Agriculture.

Federal Cooperative Conservation Listening Sessions
were held by the U.S. Departments of the Interior,
Agriculture, and Commerce across the country to
solicit and exchange ideas on incentives, partnership
programs, and regulations that can improve results and
promote cooperative conservation and environmental
partnerships. For more information on these sessions,

sailing, sailing to re election. well for someone who hasn't accomplished hardly anything in four years, it's quite an achievement, although lately sounding like a democrat doesn't hurt(i guess). in 04 she flew around with the warmonger in chief campaigning for him and his failed war(he used her)as her party lost even more seats at home, proved she really didn't know what was going on. then as a representative of the "aloha" state she went over to israel and supported sharon, a known war criminal.
after all this nonsense she ran around telling everyone that because she was in the party that controlled the Wh and congress she would have great influence to help pass the Akaka bill, that is until bush and the republican leadership laughed her out of washington and squashed that bill. as far as the environment she came out against(with big business of course)our bottle bill, which was passed anyway and was put in her place again, however recently she veto'd adding the 2 liter plastic bottles(?????)to the bill saying the 5 cents would hurt families. she sided with the oil companies of course against the gas cap, and was sucessful in getting it repealed and making the oil companies very proud, we are 77 cents higher than mainland average, i will say that she has kept a very low profile lately as far as any controversial issues and will tip toe thru this to re election. it would be refreshing to have someone with some bold ideas to benefit the "people" but if all people want is a smiling face, then so be it.

Here's the transcript from the September 7th meeting...

(...and hmmm...I'm not quite sure I have an opinion at this point, other than to say they probably should hold these things outdoors somewhere!)
