Unroasted Dried Coffee Beans
#1
I have a coffee roaster and like to roast my beans in small batches. Does anyone out there know of a source of good quality Kona beans that have not been roasted yet? I would be willing to buy at least 10# at a time. Because we will be living in Hilo, I don't want to try to dry them myself before roasting, as I would be fighting humidity.

If you want the best coffee you will find it on this side of the island. Better then Kona are the beans from Ka'u to Mountianview.
I've found the best coffee beans on the island are in Pahala from a small farm.

So, can I buy them unroasted? If so tell me where! I would love to find good beans. I do not care where they are from. Thanks Scott!

I agree with Scott, you can buy unroasted coffee from Sharkey's and that's better than anything from Kona. http://sharkyscoffee.com. You will find their phone number there. The owners are Scott and Silvia.

Hey John, Where in Puna is the coffee grown? Do they sell over the counter or is it all online sales?

They have two farms, both in Hawaiian Acres. (They actually are pretty close to you if you cut across of Ainaloa.) There is only one store that sells their coffee in Hilo and it's sometimes available at the Hilo Farmers Market too. However, Scott is well known for delivering his coffee in the Hilo area.
