Mokulele Airlines has teamed up with mainland Republic airlines to offer interisland "jet service" between Honolulu and Kauai, Maui and the Big Island. They say that a fare war won't happen....but increased competition always lowers prices.

Another airline looking for a piece of the Hawaiian market. How many have tried but only “crashed and burned” when putting their hands in the Hawaiian cookie jar? I for one would love to see it but experience tells me different. Maybe they can break the mold and we could benefit but I for one will not be holding my breath.

Mokulele has been in the business for a long time. It's a very smartly run company. They also have code sharing with Go! and operate as Go! Express too.

Sorry Scott, Aloha wasen't run well, they were straggling along with way outdated aircraft (original flying convertable). Their service had slacked, and they hadn't been fiscally strong for years.

It is the lower cost oil.... I saw a 380.00 r/t hnl lax the other day (continental).
Lets hope the price (down 52% from the high today) keeps slipping, expect more flights, better rates and best of all airlines trying to welcome passengers as opposed to abusing them.
By the way the new player is republic airlines, sweet little 70 pax aircraft, less than perfect operator imho.
