Electricians and plumbers

I'm looking for an electical and plumbing contractor for the job I'm working on. Anyone have any good ones that you know of(or bad ones to stay away from)? Also wanted to know what peoples experiences have been with the wait time from when you accept a bid and when they begin work. I know it probably vaires from one contractor to another, but just trying to get an idea if I'm in for a long wait to get the work done.
