We have 6 acres in Orchidland and depending where you are, you can expect anywhere from half an inch of soil(like we have) to "decent" depths of soil. Your gonna need to bring in truck loads of soil. Great area and an excellent choice.

We stayed in the ARt & Orchid B&B in September and were impressed with the neighborhood. This lot came up on the MLS, and I jumped. Closing is near.

Take a look at googles satelite pics of the area too. You can see all the large flower farms and even zoom down to like 150' in some areas. Most of the developement is up near the highway and around Orchidland dr. areas. I planted some trees about 3 years ago and you can see them from the sat. views.

In the classified ads here, the guy offering to haul mulch and cinders would know where to get manure or topsoil.

guess what there's actually orchid farms growing orchids for sale in orchid land....quiet a few all over the subdivision including across from my lot in 45th...of course competition is fierce so the key is to get into a nitched market which is what i plan on doing but i'm still in the starting phase of my vision in growing something for sale....also most of the orchid farms are grown in covered greenhouses and potted plants instead of on soil....veggie planting is also feasible, but creating a nitch is also key...but as usual it is alot of manual work so experimenting and finding what works is part of the process.

good luck
