Anyone familiar with these? I have a local friend who uses them in boquets, etc. I hear they have a reputation.

Some varities of the seeds were said to hallucinogenic after the black fuzz(poison I think) was scraped off. I never tried it. I did smuggle some seeds back to Fl and had to later exterminate the resultant plants as they would have taken over the continent. It can grow very very fast. The flowers are very pretty as well as the seed pods.

I have a Hawaiian friend who showed me where to get 'em and they're really cool in arrangements. The reason I was curious was 'cause a neighbor had mentioned the seeds...I googled it and was amazed...not something I would be into (anymore...long, long time ago maybe)LOL!! The way they dry looking just like wood is very cool.

Aloha,
The woodrose is not a native to Hawai`i but definitely an adopted flower for local style wreaths etc.... It does well in our climate and can be very invasive if left unchecked. Just giving my two cents for what it is worth.

My Hawai'ian friend showed me where they are growing and told me that I could cut it and just stick it in the ground and it will creep up a tree or bush like crazy. Doesn't sound like something I wanna be fighting back, but it is very interesting when the flower dries.
