Possible hele-on bus hub and park-and-ride?
#1
I think the site of the Maku'u farmers market would be a good site for a bus hub. It's a pre-existing site that can hold a lot of cars, and it's used the one day the bus doesn't run. The county wouldn't need to spend money developing a new site. It could serve as a hub for Pahoa, lower Puna, Hawaiian Beaches, Nanawale, Paradise Park and Orchidland.

I see feeder routes for Pahoa/Hawaiian Beaches/Nanawale; Orchidland/HPP; Pahoa/Kapoho/Pohoiki and Pahoa/Kalapana/Pohoiki.

Sheltered bus stops along H-130 are being looked at.

The County runs the buses all the State can really work on is the Highway part. I do appreciate the input.

The state could cooperate with the county if it wanted to. HDOT is set in it's ways and only wants to do what it wants to do the way it wants to do it. HDOT forgets or has forgotten it is there to serve the public interest. Needs to be reminded. Seriously.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Of course the State could cooperate with the County... The HWY 130 advisory committee should require that... including all the info about round-a-bouts, etc. We, in the universe of Puna, are aware... how do we enlighten them?
