Yesterday and today both there is a problem with Punaweb member's accounts staying active and open on the system at Aloha Outpost even after they have clicked "LOGOUT" from Punaweb, logged out from a session on a terminal, and even after the terminal itself has been restarted. The system is preventing logout and preventing a different Punaweb member from logging in once someone else's identity is locked into a terminal.
Yesterday I sat down at a terminal to check Punaweb and a Punaweb member's account was open when Punaweb came up on the screen; both I and the tech guy here were unable to log her out, even with shutting down and restarting the machine. Same thing today, but a different terminal and different Punawb member's account open. The tech guy even wonked around and cleared cookie cache and passwords, but still same result. He is stumped; figures it might be on Punaweb's end somehow.
While a member's account is open anyone can pose as the Punaweb member and make posts or send mail under that person's name, so if someone is being a jerk then it could be obnoxious.
Anyhow, just wanted to let you know.
Best,
AlaskaSteven

Dang! I forgot to state that this is not elissa posting this thread and making this current comment- I am AlaskaSteven. The system is preventing me logging in as myself and I forgot that when I made the post -my apologies to elissa; it was not intention (I was on autopilot).

Our Tech people have tested the site (PW) and find no problems. It must be a problem with the computer being used.

I tried deleting my cookies here at home, username and password had to be filled in again, as expected.
What browser (IE, Firefox), which operating system (XP, Vista, Mac)?
Could be file protection issues. Almost certainly local PC.
Rob,
This sounds like either the session on the server or the cookies are stamping the wrong time stamp. or the script in the snitz forum is not unsetting the session or cookie.
Sessions are set on the server (much better) cookies are stored on the users computer.
Actually most times you don't unset a session but you just give it a an expired time stamp.
Since your server is in Scottsdale, Az, that or the servers time is set wrong.

unless this can be shown to be taking place at other locations I would have to conclude that ether the workstation is having some issues or someone setup or installed something to make this happen.
being as the system in question is a public system ether could be true.
As a rule, never access a secure system with at non-secure system.
